A Pear Story

This morning our grower Jo Schneider brought in “Red Clappertons Favorite” pears. Some of these pears where the largest pears I’ve ever seen. Normally we try to grow them smaller then this for market but due to the circumstances of the season these ended up very large.

Snowy Mountian Fire

Updated: Aug 7th 2018

Thanks to the great work of fire fighters things are much calmer now. There is still fire in the mountains and it will take a lot of work but local homes do not appear to be in imminent danger.

August 3rd 2018

A crazy night of evacuation and fire last night. Looks much more caml this morning.

Slowly picking up.

The Apricot pick has slowly been picking up pace. I could arrive to work on monday with a lot of packing ahead.

Apricots!

Apricots are almost here. I ate one at the end of the branch that was wonderful tasting. If we can get some sun it will be just a few more days until we can pick.

Wind storm

On May 25th at 2:25 am in the morning wind storm came through our area. All is well and calm now, on with the cherries.

The 2018 fruit season

The 2018 fruit season is almost upon us. Only a couple short weeks and we will be starting cherries.

Smoke

The air quality is a little rough here with the local fires burning in the mountains.

Our thoughts go out to everyone who has been evacuated and hope they’re able to return to their homes soon.

Flemish Pears

Flemish Pears are being packed down stairs as I write this. I don’t expect them to be in storage too long before they are off to meet customers.

The beginning of the free stones!

Well semi free stone anyway. Red Haven and Harbrite peaches are the first peaches to come free from the pit “when ripe”. The first true freestone peaches that we have are Glow Haven but those won’t be ready for just over another week.

Santa Rosa Plums

The Santa Rosa Plums are in, these ones are just waiting to be sorted and packed.
